Our philosophy

Five
thoughts,
one compass

Every child brings their own world

Children are shaped by their family, culture, friends and experiences. Girls and boys are individuals – with preferences, needs, abilities, ideas, wishes and fears.

Every child is the architect of their own development: they want to discover the world independently, look for answers in dialogue – and do so at their own pace and with their own temperament.

Equal opportunities & personality

Differences in gender, social background and culture are the main causes of differences in achievement that show up at school at the latest. We work against this: we support every child in growing into a self-reliant, community-minded personality who explores their surroundings out of their own drive and with joy.

Diverse concepts & activities

  • We give children orientation as role models and companions, and offer space and time for movement and play – to live out creativity and release tension.
  • A varied programme lets children recognise their own strengths and weaknesses.
  • We leave room for free choices: every morning, in our shared morning circle, we talk through the day and its activities with the children.

The Situational Approach

A widely used educational approach in German daycare centres (Situationsansatz), developed since the 1970s. It takes the children’s everyday world as its starting point and puts it at the centre of our work. Behind it lies trust that children perceive and experience the world around them on their own.

The 16 principles of the Situational Approach form the basis of our work at Wolke 7.

The sensorimotor approach

From the very beginning, children want to experience their environment with all their senses – playfully and with lots of movement. The senses are their way into the world, and early sensory experiences are the basis of their own learning. That is why nurturing the senses is a particular concern of ours.

Adventure in Wedding? Of course!

There are plenty of destinations for outings nearby, and we use them. We draw on what the neighbourhood has to offer to give the children a varied everyday life.

The courtyard

Not just
vegetables grow here

Every year, the courtyard of the building is greened and designed together by the educators and the children. We harvest the vegetables and berries that we planted and cared for together with the girls and boys.

Many hands,
one team

Our multicultural team consists of six educators from a wide range of disciplines. It is currently also supported by a trainee.
